NEW to WOC 2024! This program provides a broad overview of modern concrete technology in today’s construction marketplace. Selecting the appropriate materials from a wide range of choices is key to your project’s success. The presentation focuses on designing a durable and sustainable concrete mix, types of available materials, and products to provide a long service life. Additional topics include meeting specific project requirements for reduced shrinkage with extended joint patterns, waterproofing concrete, etc.

  • What a well-designed concrete mixture looks like
  • Importance of w/cm ratio
  • Cement and ASTM C595
  • Admixtures – when used and how specified
  • Fiber reinforcement – types and design
  • Joint fillers and sealants
  • Curing and sealing concrete

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Michael H. Weber, CGP, IOM, CSI, has been in the concrete industry for 35+ years. His roles have included sales, training, market development, and operations in executive leadership positions with for-profit companies and national trade associations. In 2006, Weber received Hanley Wood Media’s “10 Most Influential People Award” for the construction industry. Most recently, Weber received the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Building Systems Councils’ 2019 “S.A. Walters Lifetime Achievement Award” for the systems built (concrete, modular, log/timber frame and panelized) industry. He serves as a voting member on four American Concrete Institute (ACI) Standard Committees and is a Trustee for NAHB’s Leading Suppliers Council and Building Systems Councils.
