If you are considering getting into the growing business of polished concrete, this class is for you. The basics of polishing concrete will be the emphasis of this course. We will also discuss the importance of understanding and identifying possible problems with the substrate before any grinding takes place, addressing cracks, divots and spalls, joint filling, meeting customers’ expectations, understanding what FF/FL is and how it affects the final appearance, knowing the differences am classes A,B,C or D and what level of sheen is expected. Other important topics will include the chemical side of the business and the important role they play in the polishing process as well as the different types of available densifiers. You will leave with a understanding of the appropriate type of diamond tooling to use relative to the surface hardness and the specified profiles as well as an overview of common tools used in the polishing world like gloss meters, DOI meters and surface hardness scratch pics. You won’t want to miss this class.
1. Identify the difference between class A, B, C and D surfaces
2. Discuss the key characteristics and/or issues to look for prior to grinding
